Irka Mateo is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and folklorist. As as artist, she has developed a long and successful career participating in renowned world music festivals and venue such as The United Nations Headquarters, National Museum of the American Indian, Louis Armstrong Museum, Montreal jazz Festival, and throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, and Africa. World Music Charts Europe listed her recording debut, “Anacaona”, as ‘one of the best World Music albums of 2010′. Before coming to NY in 2007, she was performing with her folk and original compositions groups and producing and conducting the television program
