As with most anniversaries, the question always pops up: Has it really been that long?! Yes, it’s true. Forty years has passed since the day “Lady Sings The Blues” – the cinematic portrayal of blues & jazz legend Billie Holiday (starring the awesome, hazy-eyed Diana Ross) – hit the silver screen. Like “Sparkle” & “Dreamgirls”, it was a perfect collision of Black music & Black cinema as a backdrop to a life story of a woman on a mission to follow her dreams. Her journey, on film & in life,
