The longest-running television program dedicated to Puerto Rican & Latino affairs (throughout the nation!) – Puerto Rican Panorama – has been a Saturday morning staple for scores of Latino families & culturally-conscious viewers since the 1960′s. What started as a first-of-its-kind news beacon focused on addressing topics & issues relevant to the then-burgeoning communities of Puerto Rican settlers has developed into household necessity for Latino families throughout the Delaware Valley. Host Diego Castellanos is still committed to his mission: to showcase & spotlight positive advancements of Latino & Latino-friendly entities, organizations, & individuals. Known for his ability to get to the heart of a conversation, his objective approach has taken politicians, lawmakers, and regular citizens to task, leaving guests feeling either supported or stymied, and even stunned. Castellanos (who modestly accepts the title of ‘Civil Rights Hero’ as he was the 1st Puerto Rican to host a TV show on a major network during a time of confusion & strife – as well as serving as the commentator for the Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade of Philadelphia) invited AfroTaino Productions on-air to discuss the heart and nature of what we do, and why we do it. We had a great time, hopping between casual banter and conversations about immigration. Of course, we could’t show up empty-handed: knowing Sr. Castellanos is a die-hard Mariachi fan, we presented a special musical gift to him – a guest performance from the ladies of Mariachi Flor de Toloache! Thank you Mr. Castellanos for all that you have done for us countless viewers, the network, and generations of Latino-Americans.
